“Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.” Psalm 119:11
It has been said of the Bible, “sin will keep from this Book but also this Book will keep you from sin.” The place for God’s Word is in our hearts. The psalmist knew that temptation would come and that the Word of God would be his greatest defense. Jesus modeled this for us when He was tempted in the wilderness by Satan. Each time Jesus was tempted, He quoted a small section of scripture. Jesus did not have to look up a verse that applied in that moment because He had verses hidden in his heart that He was ready to use at any given moment. What was result? Satan fled! The price tag on sin is high. Sin hurts God’s heart and destroys the ones we love. Let’s take time to hide God’s Word in our hearts; we will never regret it.
